Nottinghamshire Fined For Fielding Hussey

Nottinghamshire have been handed a £600 fine by the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) after they fielded Australian David Hussey without having registered him to do so. Hussey, who captains the side in Twenty20 cricket, had obtained the necessary dispensation to play for Nottinghamshire as an overseas player and has now been correctly registered with the ECB.

Wagh Brings Forward Retirement Date

Nottinghamshire batsman Mark Wagh has brought forward his planned retirement and he will now end his professional cricket career following the conclusion of the ongoing LV= County Championship match with Worcestershire. He had originally planned to hang up his boots in August to pursue a career in law but has now decided to leave Trent Bridge two months earlier than scheduled.

Neil Edwards will make his first start of the season for Nottinghamshire when they play Worcestershire in their next LV= County Championship match from 26th April. Edwards, who has been in good form in pre-season and in the second team and replaces Ali Brown in the Nottinghamshire team that took a memorable come-from-behind victory against Yorkshire in their last outing.

Nottinghamshire Recall Shreck To Face Hampshire

Fast bowler Charlie Shreck has been recalled from his loan spell at Kent and has gone straight into Nottinghamshire's team to face Hampshire in their LV= County Championship opener against Hampshire at Trent Bridge. Shreck had been given the chance to get first-team cricket under his belt with Kent but following injuries to Darren Pattinson and Andy Carter, he has been swiftly brought back to the Midlands and is ready to play from 14th April.

Broad Keen To Contribute For Nottinghamshire

Recuperating England fast bowler Stuart Broad is keen to play a big part in Nottinghamshire's defence of their LV= County Championship. Broad was unlucky to suffer two separate abdominal injuries over the winter that first cut short his Ashes campaign and then, cruelly, ended his World Cup early as well.

Wicket-keeper/batsman Riki Wessels has signed two-year contract at Nottinghamshire having left Northamptonshire at the end of the 2010 season. He was unable to continue to play for Northamptonshire after his immigration status was rejected although by playing domestic cricket in Zimbabwe, he has now secured a visa which enables him to play county cricket once again.

Cricket fans wishing to get an early taste of county cricket action can enjoy two days of free entry to Trent Bridge when Nottinghamshire play Surrey in a two-day pre-season friendly. Both sides will bat bat for one day and a maximum of 96 overs and fans will be able to view the action from Pavilion and Hound Road stand due to ongoing development work on the Radcliffe Road Stand and TBI Courtyard.

Hussey And Voges To Return To Nottinghamshire

Australian batsmen David Hussey and Adam Voges will perform duties as Nottinghamshire's two overseas players for the 2011 county season. Voges is set to start the season while Hussey will then take over in June and both players will be available for the duration of the Friends Provident t20 competition.

Pattinson Signs New Nottinghamshire Contract

Fast bowler Darren Pattinson has signed a new two-year contract at Nottinghamshire which will see him stay at the club until the end of the 2012 season. Pattinson's association with the club extends as far back at 2007, when he suffered an ankle injury while on trial but he returned in 2008, taking eight wickets on his Championship debut against Kent and going on to represent England in a Test match against South Africa at Headingley.
