On day five of the ICC World Twenty 2014 Qualifier in the United Arab Emirates, Canada took their first win, Hong Kong were beaten for the first time and there were also victories for Kenya, Nepal, Namibia, the Netherlands and UAE.

Former One-Day International cricketer Michael di Venuto has been appointed as Australia's new team batting coach. Di Venuto played nine ODIs for Australia during a career that saw him represent Derbyshire, Durham, Sussex and Tasmania as well as Italy and he is currently assisstant coach at Tasmania.

As the end of the English cricket season approaches, a fifteen-man MCC touring party is jetting-off to southern European this Saturday for a short nine-day tour to Italy. Ealing Cricket Club all-rounder, Sameer Patel, will captain a diverse touring party, comprised of MCC Members from across the country, including former First-Class cricketer, Ashley Metcalfe.

The Twenty20 matches at Svanholm Park on Thursday may not have been part of an official competition, but Denmark retained their unbeaten record in the week with wins over both Italy and the Isle of Man. The final match between the hosts and the Manxmen provided a fitting climax to the week, with the latter fighting back well when it seemed that the Danish top order would see their side to the most comfortable of victories as they chased a substantial target of 127.

Danish opener Fazan Ahmed hit an unbeaten 85 on Wednesday to guide his team to a six-wicket victory over the Isle of Man and the European Under-17 Division 2 title. The hosts completed their win with almost four overs to spare, but the Manxmen showed a significant improvement on their performance in their opening game, as Italy had done in beating them on Tuesday.

Hosts Denmark made a successful entrance to the European Under-17 Division 2 championship at Svanholm on Monday, posting a comfortable six-wicket victory over Italy. Put in to bat in unfamiliar conditions the Italians showed commendable application in the early part of their innings, and did well to reach 65 for two in the 30th over.

The ICC European Centre of Excellence takes place between 12th and 17th April, 2012 at La Manga Club, Spain, where eighteen players, nine country coaches and six lead coaches will be in attendance from across nine European countries. The ICC Europe Centre of Excellence is held annually in La Manga, Spain for talented youth age-group players of between 13-16 years of age. The countries of Denmark, Germany, Gibraltar, Ireland, Isle of Man, Italy, Jersey, the Netherlands and Scotland will all be represented.

Afghanistan, Ireland and the Netherlands sealed their places in the play-offs with wins on day seven of the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier 2012 in the United Arab Emirates. Afghanistan finished on top of Group A with a perfect record after beating Bermuda while there was also a win for Kenya over Uganda after Ireland and the Netherlands beat Oman and Hong Kong respectively.

Afghanistan, Kenya, Netherlands and Scotland all secured victories on the morning of day six of the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier 2012 in the United Arab Emirates. All four sides are ranked in the top six at the tournament and they all scored victories batting second over Hong Kong, United States of America, Nepal and Italy respectively.

Afghanistan and Namibia made it five wins out of five to remain at the top of their respective groups after the fifth day of the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier in the United Arab Emirates. There was also a first win so far for the United States of America, who beat Oman, while also victorious were Hong Kong, Netherlands, Nepal, Italy and Ireland.

There were wins for the Netherlands, Nepal, Afghanistan and Denmark in Group A and Italy, Scotland, Uganda and Namibia in Group B on the opening day of the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier in the United Arab Emirates. Namibia produced an upset to beat Ireland while there were comprehensive wins for the Netherlands, Italy, Nepal and Uganda.

Six volunteers from Belvoir Castle Cricket Trust are on their way to Uganda with Cricket Without Boundaries (CWB) and are currently savouring the delights of breakfast in Addis Ababa during their 3 hour stopover at the Ethiopian Airport. Cricket Without Boundaries (CWB), the leading UK cricket development and AIDS awareness charity has appointed Surrey Cricket Development Manager, Simon Hards, to be the Country Manager for Uganda. Simon was one of CWBâ€™s very first volunteers, travelling to Kenya on the autumn 2007 trip. The role will involve helping the management of future CWB projects as well as helping maintaining and developing relationships with both existing and new stakeholders.

On 1st October nine volunteers from the cricket charity Cricket Without Boundaries ("CWB") set off on a project to Uganda. The team was made up of some of CWBâ€™s most experienced coaches, new coaches and other volunteers who had a particular interest in HIV/Aids awareness. This was CWB's 5th visit to Uganda.
