From 2009 American College Cricket, and the significant media profile it has generated for the game, including on Facebook, is inspiring young cricketers all over the USA & Canada. The opportunity to compete against their peers is spurring students, who might have left the game, to be re-engaged.

Sandra Ibarra To Lead USYCA Summer Programmes In Maryland

Sandra Ibarra, a former member of the USA women's national squad and more recently the South West Region Women's Cricket Coordinator, has agreed to take a leadership role with USYCA. Sandra, an ICC Level I cricket coach, recently moved to the Baltimore area and will be coordinating the new community youth cricket programs starting this summer in Maryland.

Bangladesh Gain ODI Status, Pakistan Reach Final

Hosts of the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier 2011, Bangladesh, have secured One-Day International status for first time for its women’s side after Salma Khatun’s side beat USA in a low-scoring fixture. Meanwhile, Ireland defeated fellow European qualifier and ODI side Netherlands, to retain its ODI status – the result means that Netherlands has lost its ODI status for the women’s side. Bangladesh and Ireland will now face-off on Saturday in the 5th/6th play-off for the tournament at BKSP* 2.

First Televised Match In USA & Canada By American College Cricket

Saturday Oct 29 2011 in the annals of world cricket will be looked back on as one of the most important days - Rutgers University played NYU-Polytechnic on TV in USA and Canada. It was the first time domestic cricket was televised in the USA and Canada on a major channel, TV Asia. In addition, the enormity of college sports in the USA promises a whole new universe for world cricket.

Dhaka To Host Women's World Cup Qualifier

Ten teams will battle it out for the four remaining places at the 2013 ICC Women's World Cup in Dhaka from 14th to 25th November, the ICC has confirmed. Hosts Bangladesh will be joined by South Africa, Sri Lanka, Netherlands, Zimbabwe, USA, West Indies, Pakistan, Ireland and Japan as they bid to make the 2013 tournament in India.

Canada To Host USA, Afghanistan, Trinidad & Tobago

Canada will host Afghanistan, Trinidad & Tobago and the United States of America (USA) for a round-robin Twenty20 tournament later this month and play a two-day game against USA. The 2011 Etihad Summer Festival will run from 11th August to 13th August before the Auty Cup two-day game between Canada and USA - international cricket's oldest rivals - will be played on 15th and 16th August.

Patel Combines Cricket With Studies

2011 is a big year for batsman/fast bowler Mital Patel, he was selected to be in the USA Under 19 team,playing in February in the ICC Americas Qualifier for the 2012 U19 World Cup. Then in March he represents Rutgers University in the American College Cricket Spring Break Championship. Currently a freshman at Rutgers University Mital Patel is studying for a Finance and Medicine Double Major, "I wanted to choose something that would combine a branch of business with the field of medicine," he explained.

Squads For World Cricket League Division 3 Confirmed

The final squads for the ICC World Cricket League Division Three competition, which runs from 21st to 29th January in Hong Kong, have been confirmed. Denmark, Hong Kong, Italy, Oman, USA and Papua New Guinea are competing and the top two sides will earn promotion to Division Two, which will be held in the United Arab Emirates in April.
