Warriors off-spinner, Simon Harmer has been added to the South Africa test squad for the final and third test against West Indies at Capetown starting January 2.

Harmer, aged 25 will be competing for a spot with Tahir who had a poor outing with figures of 108 for three in the drawn test at Port Elizabeth.

The off-spinner could be in line for a debut after an impressive performance in the domestic competition picking 17 wickets in three matches.

Robin Peterson, who was originally in the squad against West Indies, will be out of action for another week with the finger injury sustained in the first test following which Tahir was included in the second test.

Meanwhile, Dane Piedt, who was out of action with a shoulder injury, has just made a return to the first-class cricket.

Piedt bowled 47 overs recording a figure of 162 for one.

South Africa have taken an unbeatable lead of 1-0 in the series.
