India captain Virat Kohli has reclaimed the top position in the International Cricket Council One-Day International rankings for batsmen following a successful series against New Zealand.

Kohli amassed 263 runs from three matches at an average of 87.66 that included two centuries as well and his performance with bat remained pivotal for India's 2-1 series victory.

The 28-year-old displaced South Africa batsman AB de Villiers from the pole position and now has a 17 point lead at the top.

His tally of 889 points is the highest ever for an Indian batsman since the inception of rankings system.

Rohit Sharma's 174 runs in the series has helped him claim the seventh place while pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah has moved to the third position following a successful outing against the Black Caps where he emerged as the joint leading wicket-taker along with Tim Southee.

South Africa captain Faf du Plessis has climbed two places while former Indian skipper MS Dhoni has moved to the 11th position.
