Virtual Cricket: County Championship Fantasy Cricket Tips and Match Predictions - Surrey v Kent

©Cricket World / John Mallett

Round eight of the Virtual County Championship between Surrey and Kent is being held by Cricket World and Dice Cricket to help the fans stay tuned to cricketing action from the comforts of their home amid the Covid-19 outbreak.

Surrey have their batsmen to blame for their 7-wicket defeat against Gloucestershire in their round 7 match. The team was bowled out for only 157 in the first innings and was always catching their tail from there on.

Only Rory Burns could stand up to the bowling attack of Gloucestershire in the first innings. Although Liam Plunkett struck a surprising 107 in the second innings, he did not receive enough support from his fellow batsmen.

Sam Curran picked up a 5-wicket haul in the first innings but could not repeat his heroics in the second essay as the team lost the game and had to walk away with only three points.

This leaves Surrey at the eighth spot with two wins and four losses from six games. Their opponents, Kent, have done even worse with only one victory from 6 matches. The team has only 42 points, three of which came in the defeat against Essex in the last game.

Harry Podmore and Joe Denly were their top scorers. Podmore also returned with a 10-wicket haul. But, even that was not enough to prevent the 97-run defeat.

Let's have a look at the probable playing XI of both teams:

Kent - Sam Billings, Zak Crawley, Joe Denly, Daniel Bell-Drummond, Heino Kuhn, Alex Blake, Ollie Robinson, Darren Stevens, Harry Podmore, Tim Groenewald, Matt Milnes

Surrey - Rory Burns, Mark Stoneman, Hashim Amla, Ollie Pope, Ben Foakes, Will Jacks, Rikki Clarke, Sam Curran, Liam Plunkett, Tom Curran, Morne Morkel
