Back-to-back wins for Adelaide Strikers after McGrath masterclass
A Tahlia McGrath batting masterclass gave the Adelaide Strikers the win over the Perth Scorchers on Sunday.
Match Summary
Perth Scorchers 115 - 9
Adelaide Strikers 116 - 3
Result - Adelaide Strikers Women won by 7 wickets
McGrath's unbeaten 65 from 48 balls helped the Strikers chase the required 116 inside 15 overs.
Suzie Bates won the bat flip and elected to bowl at Allan Border Field, with the Strikers going on to restrict Perth to just 9/115.
Regular wickets fell, including important early breakthroughs from Sophie Devine (1/24) and Megan Schutt (1/14), having the Scorchers on the ropes at 2/7.
Sarah Coyte (2/18) and Suzie Bates (2/14) were brilliant with the ball, with a tight fielding effort from Adelaide putting pressure on Perth.
A shaky chase began with the loss of Bates (8) and Devine (duck) inside the first seven balls, while Bridget Patterson (7) followed soon after.
However a 94-run partnership between Lauren Winfield (24 not out) and McGrath was exactly what the Strikers needed to secure the win.
The Strikers have a 3-1 win-loss record and sit atop the rebel WBBL|05 table.
The Strikers will next take on the Brisbane Heat in Mackay on Saturday and Sunday. Both matches can be watched live on the CA Live app and Kayo.
