WBBL Player of the Tournament & Inaugural Team of the Tournament Announced

Adelaide Strikers’ all-rounder Sophie Devine has been named the rebel WBBL|05 Player of the Tournament after producing a stellar season with both bat and ball.

Devine scored the most runs in the competition with 699 at an average of 77.66 while also claiming 16 wickets at 20.25; the New Zealand international is within striking distance of Ellyse Perry’s record of 777 runs in a season with the Strikers to feature in this year’s Finals Weekend.

Her power hitting was on show for much of the season with the opener hammering 28 sixes, nine more than the Melbourne Stars’ Lizelle Lee.

Devine polled votes in 12 of the 14 matches she played, finishing 13 votes clear of Brisbane Heat star Beth Mooney (35 votes) and Melbourne Renegade Danielle Wyatt (33).

Votes are awarded on a 3-2-1 basis by the standing umpires at the end of each match meaning a player can receive up to six votes per match.
