West Indian Legends Lloyd, Croft, Greenidge, Garner On Sir Viv Richards
Listen below as Clive Lloyd, Colin Croft, Gordon Greenidge and Joel Garner give us their memories of playing alongside Sir Viv Richards, who was recently honoured by the Lord's Taverners.
Lloyd, who captained Richards early on in his career, recalls the first time he saw him play, and describes how he went on to give 'yeoman service' for the West Indies over the years.
Then, fast bowler Croft looks back at the 1975 and 1979 World Cups where Richards took centre stage, describing one shot which he says was the best he's ever seen.
Next up, Greenidge talks about what it was like batting alongside Sir Viv and finally Garner remembers his time in the dressing room with the great man for both the West Indies and Somerset.
The four were speaking to Cricket World on behalf of the Lord’s Taverners, who honoured Sir Vivian Richards with fellow West Indian cricket legends at a commemorative dinner in London to raise awareness and funds for the charity.
The Lord’s Taverners is the UK’s leading youth cricket and disability sports charity; its objective is to give disadvantaged and disabled young people a sporting chance. To find out more about the charity, please go to www.lordstaverners.org
