West Indies Name Squad For Barbados Test
West Indies have named their 15-man squad for the third and final Test against England in Barbados starting on Friday.
Left-arm spinner Veerasammy Permaul is the only addition to the squad that was named for the Grenada Test as he is likely to replace the leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo.
Bishoo who suffered a finger injury during the second Test is currently undergoing treatment by the medical staff.
Having become the leading wicket-taker in the domestic season at home this year with 67 wickets, the 25-year-old Permaul has been going through a purple patch.
While explaining Bishoo’s absence in the squad, coach Phil Simmons seemed pleased at Permaul’s form and fitness.
“Bishoo did well for us in the second Test in Grenada but he has a finger injury so we decided to call-up Permaul,” said Simmons
“He (Permaul) was among the best bowlers in the four-day cricket earlier this season, and he also bowled well in the camp ahead of this series - so he’s in good shape.”
Permaul who made his Test debut in 2012 has represented West Indies in four matches snaring 12 wickets at 37.66.
West Indies squad for third Test against England: Denesh Ramdin (Captain), Kraigg Brathwaite (Vice Captain), Devendra Bishoo, Jermaine Blackwood, Carlos Brathwaite, Darren Bravo, Shiv Chanderpaul, Shannon Gabriel, Jason Holder, Shai Hope, Veerasammy Permaul, Kemar Roach, Marlon Samuels, Devon Smith, Jerome Taylor
