The ODI series will be followed by a 3 match T20I series which will begin on the 25th of March and conclude on the 28th of March.
The last time West Indies team toured South Africa for an all format face off was in 2015, a series that featured AB de Villiers's spectacular knock of 149 runs, the fastest century of all time in ODI cricket.
West Indies Cricket Board has announced the white ball and Red ball squads for their team. The most notable changes have been the appointment of Shai Hope and Rovman Powell as the captain for ODI and T20I side respectively.
As for the Test squad, two new additions to the team are Alick Athanaze and Akeem Jordan. They will be looking to leave an impression on their debuts.
South Africa Cricket Board on the other hand has also released the squad for the two Tests against West Indies. In a remarkable squad shake up, Temba Bavuma has taken on the captaincy role from Dean Elgar. A notable inclusion is of Gerald Coetzee, who impressed the selectors with his performance in the SA20 held recently.
The West Indies would like to forget their World Cup woes and move on to win against South Africa in the upcoming tour. It will be an exciting contest between the two sides and both teams would like to get the better off the other.
