Who Will Be the Most Expensive Players on the IPL Auction
The IPL (India Premier League) Auction is scheduled to get underway on Friday, December 16th, 2023, in Bengaluru, and it will more than likely be overseen by Hugh Edmeades, the same British Auctioneer who has presided over the past three IPL auctions. The question being asked here is, who will be the most expensive players in the IPL Auction?
What exactly is the IPL Auction?
The IPL Auction is a player auction that takes place every year before the start of the new Indian Premier League of cricket. Throughout the auction, players are auctioned off to different IPL franchises, and some generate a lot more money than others. It’s a multi-day event, and some of the major sports betting websites are already offering odds for who will be the most expensive players at the auction.
Each club owner will place a bid on certain players in hopes of landing that person and bringing him to the squad. By the end of the auction, each team’s squad will range in size from 18 players up to a maximum of 25. During the auctions, the teams are limited to a certain budget and must not go over budget, and they can auction for a variety of different players, such as all-rounders, batters, wicketkeepers, fast bowlers, and spin bowlers. Some of these players are new to the IPL, and others are players who have already been playing in the league for at least a season.
Which players are likely to be the most expensive at the IPL Auction?
Here are just four of the players that are likely to be the most expensive at the auction. Ben Stokes is everyone’s clear favourite to be the single most expensive player. Starting from lowest valued to highest valued, they include the following players:
- Cameron Green – this player is likely to be the fourth most expensive player, and he is currently priced at around 5.6/1 in UK fractional odds, which is 560 in American/moneyline odds, and 6.60 in European decimal odds. It also means that he has a 15.2% chance of being the most expensive player at the auction
- Nicholas Pooran – this player is likely to be the third most expensive player, and he is currently priced at around 4.9/1 in UK fractional odds, which is 490 in American/moneyline odds, and 5.90 in European decimal odds. It also means that he has a 16.9% chance of being the most expensive player at the auction
- Sam Curran - this player is likely to be the second most expensive player, and he is currently priced at around 2.9/1 in UK fractional odds, which is 290 in American/moneyline odds, and 3.90 in European decimal odds. It also means that he has a 25.6% chance of being the most expensive player at the auction
- Ben Stokes - this player is likely to be the single most expensive player, and he is currently priced at around 1.8/1 in UK fractional odds, which is 180 in American/moneyline odds, and 2.80 in European decimal odds. It also means that he has a 35.7% chance of being the most expensive player at the auction
How to watch the IPL Auction as it unfolds
The BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) has yet to announce the exact start time, but it’s likely to be mid-afternoon, and you will be able to watch it either from a smartphone, desktop, laptop, tablet, or SmartTV at trusted sports streaming sites and channels, such as the Voot and Jio TV mobile applications, as well as Star Sports 1, Star Sports 1 HD, and Star Sports Hindi, to name just a few.
