WI v India 1st T20I: India just too good for West Indies in opening tie

India took a 1-0 lead in the five-match T20I series against West Indies with a 68 run win in the opening match at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba on Friday night.
Asked to bat, India posted 190 for six in their 20 overs and in response West Indies were restricted to 122 for eight in their 20 overs.
Earlier, India started off briskly with captain Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav. Then Sharma kept holding the innings together even as wickets fell at the other end. Sharma finally fell for 64 off 44 balls with seven boundaries and two sixes. Towards the end, Dinesh Karthik and Ravichandran Ashwin teamed up to add 52 runs for the seventh wicket. India finished on 190 for six in their 20 overs. Karthik finished unbeaten on 41 off 19 balls with four boundaries and two sixes. For West Indies the best bowler was Alzarri Joseph (2-46).
In their response, West Indies lost early wickets and were reduced to 27 for two. There was no partnership of any kind for West Indies as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. At one point they were reduced to 86 for seven having suffered a collapse. The highest stand was worth 24 runs for the fourth wicket between captain Nicholas Pooran and Rovman Powell. In the end West Indies finished on 122 for eight in their 20 overs. For India the best bowlers were Arshdeep Singh (2-24), Ravichandran Ashwin (2-22) and Ravi Bishnoi (2-26).
