WICB offers full support to Sunil Narine
The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) has offered their complete support to their off-spinner Sunil Narine who is currently suspended from bowling in international cricket by the International Cricket Council.
On Sunday, it was revealed that Narine had failed an independent assessment of his bowling action, which found all of his deliveries to be illegal as they exceeded the allowed 15 degree extension.
Expressing his disappointment at the outcome, the director of cricket for the WICB, Richard Pybus said: “It will be a blow to Sunil to have failed the ICC biomechanics assessment of his action and be suspended from bowling.”
Pybus was confident that with Narine's hard work and the support from the board, the 27-year-old will be able to remodel his bowling action successfully and become a better bowler.
“We will be offering our support to Sunil as he does the remedial work on his bowling action.
“I know the time and effort he has put in to do this work previously and I am sure this will just deepen his resolve to come back a better bowler.”
Currently Narine will be able to play in the domestic matches under the jurisdiction of the WICB after taking the requisite permissions from the board.
Narine will be able to apply for an official re-assessment of his bowling action once he remodels the existing one.
It was after the third One-Day International against Sri Lanka in Pallekele earlier this month that Narine was reported for a suspect action.
