Women's T20 Challenge Match 2: Velocity start campaign with an impressive win

Velocity started their campaign in Women's T20 Challenge with a seven-wicket win over Supernovas at the MCA Stadium in Pune on Tuesday afternoon.

Asked to bat Supernovas posted 150 for five in their 20 overs and in response Velocity finished on 151 for three in 18.2 overs.

Supernovas were struggling at 18 for three. Then there was a 82 run fourth wicket stand between Taniya Bhatia (36) and captain Harmanpreet Kaur.Thereafter, captain Kaur carried the innings forward as she finished on 71 off 51 balls with seven boundaries and three sixes. In the end Supernovas finished on 150 for five in their 20 overs. For Velocity the best bowler was Kate Cross (2-24).

In their response, Velocity was helped by a fine 63 run second wicket stand between Shafali Varma and Yastika Bhatia. Varma made 51 off 33 balls with nine boundaries and a six. In the end, Laura Wolvaardt joined forces with captain Deepti Sharma. The pair added an unbroken 71 runs for the fourth wicket. Wolvaardt finished on an unbeaten 51 off 35 balls with seven boundaries and a six. Velocity finished on 151 for three in 18.2 overs. For Supernovas the best bowler was Deandra Dottin (2-21).

There is a day's break in Women's T20 Challenge. The final league game will be played on Thursday between Velocity and Trailblazers.
