WPL 2023: RCB Women v Delhi Capitals Women, Match 11: Bangalore lose again, Delhi jump to second spot
Royal Challengers Bangalore lost their fifth straight game as they went down by six wickets with two balls to spare against Delhi Capitals in the Women's Premier League at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Monday.
Asked to bat, Bangalore posted 150 for four in their 20 overs and in response Delhi chased down the target in 19.4 overs to finish on 154 for four.
Bangalore lost their captain Smriti Mandhana early. Then Sophie Devine and Ellyse Perry teamed up to carry the innings forward. Perry held the innings together as she teamed up with Richa Ghosh. Perry and Ghosh added 74 runs for the fourth wicket. Perry finished unbeaten on 67 off 52 balls with four boundaries and five sixes. Ghosh made 37 off 16 balls with three boundaries and three sixes. For Delhi the best bowler was Shikha Pandey (3-23).
Delhi was well served by a 44 run second wicket stand between captain Meg Lanning and Alice Capsey (38: 24b, 8x4). But Capsey fell soon. Then Lanning teamed up with Jemimah Rodrigues for the third wicket. Thereafter, Rodrigues (32) added 39 runs for the fourth wicket with Marizanne Kapp. It seemed to be a wobble for Delhi. But Kapp resurrected the chase in the company of Jess Jonassen. Kapp and Jonassen added an unbroken 45 runs for the fifth wicket. Delhi finished on 154 for four in their 20 overs. For Bangalore the best bowler was Sobhana Asha (2-27).
