Zimbabwe recall Brian Vitori for T20 series against Afghanistan
Zimbabwe have recalled left-arm-fast bowler Brian Vitori for the upcoming Twenty20 International series against Afghanistan to be played in Sharjah.
The 27-year-old was suspended by the International Cricket Council for an illegal bowling action in February 2016 but managed to remodel his action successfully and was allowed to resume bowling in June same year.
His last game for Zimbabwe though came in November 2016 but his consistent performances for his club side Tuskers and the Zimbabwe A team has earned him a place in the national side once again. He has played 11 T20Is for Zimbabwe in which he managed just four wickets with an economy of 8.14.
Apart from Vitori, middle-order batsman Ryan Burl has also been included in the T20I squad for the first time. Christopher Mpofu, Ryan Murray and Brandon Mavuta are the players to be left out from the squad that played against Bangladesh last.
"I am very pleased as the captain to have someone of Brian's ability on my side," said Zimbabwe skipper Graeme Cremer of Vitori's inclusion.
"He is a true competitor. He brings great strength and versatility to our seam bowling attack, and we look forward to seeing him on the park again".
The two-match T20I series will be played on 5th and 6th February following which the teams will compete in five One-Day Internationals between 9th and 19th February.
