Zimbabwe recall Cremer, Chakabva for Bangladesh tour
The Zimbabwe selectors have recalled Graeme Cremer and Regis Chakabva for the upcoming limited overs series against Bangladesh which will get underway from 7th November.
The leg-spinner Cremer makes a return after an ankle injury while Chakabva has been recalled after a good performance against Ireland for the Zimbabwe A Team.
A media release by Zimbabwe Cricket confirmed that Elton Chigumbura will be the captain of the 16-man squad which has been named for both the One-Day Internationals and the Twenty20 Internationals.
Tinotenda Mutombodzi, Christopher Mpofu, Kevin Kasuza and Brian Chari, all who were the part of the series loss against Afghanistan have been dropped for the Bangladesh tour.
However, these omitted players have been named as the part of the Zimbabwe A squad for the home series against Bangladesh A.
Mutombodzi will lead the Zimbabwe A squad for the one-dayers while Godwill Mamhiyo will lead the Zimbabwe A four-day squad.
Kenyon Ziehl, who is the convener of the national selection panel hoped that the squad selected will be able to recover from the defeat against Afghanistan.
"We have picked a senior national squad that we believe will quickly recover from the disappointing series against Afghanistan and go to Bangladesh to show that we are a competitive nation,” said Ziehl.
“It's also exciting to have the A side playing concurrently with the senior team as this will give us a clear picture of our depth.
“We hope the players included will make the most of this opportunity to play against a Bangladesh A which will be a quality side."
Bangladesh and Zimbabwe will play three ODIs and two T20Is between 7th and 15th November, with all games to be played in Mirpur.
